• Cowhide (as seen on our Navajo chairs and benches) brings texture and a true ranch look, since every hide is unique — no two pieces are exactly alike. It’s a great accent choice for a chair, ottoman, or bench rather than a full sofa, since hide is typically used as an accent material.
• Upholstered fabric (like our Arrowhead and City Craft collections) gives you the most flexibility in color and pattern, and is often the most budget-friendly starting point. Look for performance fabrics if the piece will see heavy daily use.

Rule of thumb: if it’s your main everyday sofa, lean leather or performance fabric for durability. If it’s an accent chair, bench, or ottoman, cowhide or a bold upholstery pattern is a great way to add character without overcommitting.

Sizing a Sectional or Sofa for Your Room

A common mistake is buying a sectional that overwhelms — or underfills — the room.

• Measure your space first, including doorways and stairwells the piece needs to pass through during delivery.
• Leave at least 30–36 inches of walking space around major furniture pieces.
• For open-concept great rooms common in mountain and ranch homes, a larger sectional (like our Dominion or Aspen) can anchor the space; for smaller cabins or dens, a loveseat-and-chair combo often works better than a full sectional.

Solid Wood, Reclaimed Barnwood & Iron

Our case goods (tables, benches, consoles) are built from solid wood, reclaimed barnwood, and hand-forged iron rather than veneer or particleboard. A few things to know:

• Reclaimed barnwood pieces (like our Duarte and Cypress Root tables) will show natural variation — knots, saw marks, nail holes — that’s part of the material’s history, not a defect.
• Solid wood and iron pieces are heavier than standard furniture; confirm your delivery access (stairs, doorways) accordingly.
• These materials are built to last decades with basic care, not to be replaced every few years.

Caring for Your Western Furniture

• Leather: Dust weekly, condition every 6–12 months, and keep out of direct sunlight to prevent fading.
• Cowhide: Spot clean only — avoid soaking. Brush occasionally to keep the hair looking full.
• Upholstery: Vacuum regularly and treat spills immediately; check whether your fabric is a performance/stain-resistant weave.
• Wood and iron: Dust with a dry or slightly damp cloth; avoid harsh chemical cleaners on finished wood.

Do you deliver outside of Colorado?  “We ship select items nationwide; larger pieces marked ‘Local Delivery Only’ are available for pickup or delivery within Colorado. Call our online sales line for a shipping quote to your area.”

Why do some items say “Local Delivery Only”? Certain larger or higher-value pieces — like select leather sofas and recliners — require in-home delivery and setup by our own team rather than a freight carrier, so we currently offer those only within our local delivery radius. Give us a call and we’ll let you know your options.

How long does a custom or special-order piece take?  “Most special-order upholstery and leather pieces take 4-8 weeks. Depending on the piece, like pacific green it can take up to 6-12 months if it is not in stock.”

Can I see these pieces in person? Yes — our showroom is located in Gunnison, Colorado. 100 Spencer Ave. Gunnison, Colorado 81230. Several of these pieces are in the store, some are not in stock. This website can be read like a catalog for the options we can special order for our customers if they are not in stock. We’re also happy to answer material and sizing questions by phone before you order.

How do I keep leather or cowhide furniture from fading in a sunny mountain home? Buy our Skidmore restoration cream, it does wonders for leather and wood pieces. Also, keep pieces out of direct, prolonged sunlight, use UV-filtering window treatments if the furniture faces south or west, and rotate cushions periodically so wear and fading are even.

What’s the difference between “rustic” and “mountain modern” styles on your site? Rustic pieces lean into traditional western materials and detailing — heavy wood, iron accents, cowhide, and warm tones. Mountain modern pieces use the same natural materials but with cleaner lines and a more contemporary silhouette, for a home that blends western character with a more streamlined look.
